Three day Bangalore event showcases compelling product developments
The India edition of the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC India 2009) is back in Bangalore for the third time – and over 2000 delegates, all hard core product engineers attending 30 plus sessions across three days, have made this the largest annual gathering of the embedded business.
Eighty of the nation’s 200 semiconductor companies are based in Bangalore, making this a creative hotbed, said Ashok Kumar Manoli, IT and Biotech head of the Karnataka state government.
The exhibition, held alongside the conference, saw Microsoft, slide into the position ( literally) cornered by Intel for the last two years. The software giant helped key embedded product developers showcase their latest wares:
· Ittiam Systems (
www.ittiam.com ) unveiled the first high definition ( 720p) decoder for mobile phone-sized screens
· Mindtree (
www.mindtree.com ) showed its infra red thermal imaging solutions including a very timely portable product that can sense a person’s body temperature without contact… useful to rapidly scan humans for Swine Flu sysmptoms at entry points like airports
· iWave (
www.iwavesystems.com ) demonstrated its Atom chip based Windows Car PC… a product we had previewed on this page
· e-Con Systems (
www.e-consystems.com ) from Chennai, had a Spark-ling offer to make: just Rs 12,500 for a multi-board system kit for embedded product development.
Device Software optimization leader GreenHills, Microcontroller and analog device provider Microchip, IBM, National Instruments and NeST Software, were other stands that attracted large crowds of developers. ( July 23 2009)
