2010 edition launched across India
Bangalore July 18: Russia-based secure content management solutions leader, Kaspersky Lab, whose anti virus engine fuels many big-brand security products including Checkpoint, Juniper and F- Secure, has aggressively priced its consumer Internet Security Suite for the Indian market. The 2010 edition which had its national launch in Bangalore, Friday, costs just Rs 990 for a single PC and Rs 1792 for 3 platforms. However market feedback suggests it is being pushed even cheaper by retailers and bundled by many OEMs and PC assemblers. The product is tailored for all contemporary versions of Windows.
Yet attractive pricing is not an excuse for a ‘ cheapie’ product, suggested Moscow-based Director of Channel Alexander Gnatusin, India and South Asia: In fact the 2010 edition of Kaspersky Internet Security has many firsts – including the ability to ‘sandbox’ applications that might be run virtually or in an unknown ‘cloud’ environment, he added. Other firsts included a virtual keyboard which allowed users to isolate their key strokes from prying eyes; and an ‘urgent’ detection system for ‘on the fly’ recognition of “Day One” viral threats. The suite is also being released in enterprise versions with multiple licensingoptions.
Leading Indian corporate and government customers include Indian Railways, National Multi Commodity Exchange and Defence R&D Labs, said
Q. A Tapia, who heads the Kaspersky Sales unit of Hyderabad-based , Indian distribution partner,
Zoom Technologies, who has specialised in network security and is currently setting up India’s largest ( 400 locations) WAN project for the Department of Registration in Andhra Pradesh. (
