New Delhi, June 9, 2016: The China-based UCWeb, a part of the Alibaba Group, claims 80 million active users in India, making it arguably the most popular browser on mobile devices. To further strengthen its connections in this country, it has just launched a UC News app exclusively for its Indian consumers.
The app aggregates content based on topics trending on Facebook and Twitter. It also offers customized content subscription. For example during cricket matches, one can set the feeds to cricket news and remove them once the series is over. The app covers and curates content in 20 different categories -- general news, cricket, technology, entertainment, movies, lifestyle, health, humour, etc.
Currently available in English and Hindi, the company also has plans to launch in other regional languages. UCWeb is also partnering with other content providers like bloggers and opinion leaders. The UC News app is now available on GooglePlay and 9Apps.
The UC Browser has also been upgraded with UC Cricket and UC Entertainment. For UC cricket the company has partnered with cricbuzz, Twitter, and Bing, who will provide cricket related news and trending stories.
